DIABOLO PELLETS
Diabolo pellets are perhaps the most widespread air gun ammunition. However, some air guns are designed and constructed exclusively for the use of steel pellets. An obsolete type of ammunition for air guns are also lead pellets, but these are slowly disappearing from the market due to the rich offer of diabolo pellets.
HOW TO CHOOSE?
When buying diabolo pellets you need to know the caliber of your air gun. Caliber is the diameter characterized either in European scale in millimeters or in Anglo-American scale in tenths, hundredths and thousands of inches. The most widespread caliber of air guns is cal. 4.5 mm (.177), 5.5 mm (.22), 6.35 mm (.25), 7.62 mm (.30) and 9 mm (.35).
For the right choice it is necessary to know the power of your gun characterized by the shot energy at the muzzle in Joules. Diabolo pellets are manufactured in different weights. Their weight is also characterized either on a European scale in grams or on an Anglo-American scale in grains. If you overdo it with weight, the diabolo pellet might not be fired from the barrel at all, or its range will be very short.
An important criterion for selection is also the purpose they must fulfill. The purpose can also be occasional hobby shooting, sports target shooting or hunting overpopulated rats. If you shoot only occasionally for pleasure and rest and you are not after 100% accuracy, or your air rifle is no longer in the best technical condition, you will need to orientate in the lowest price categories. But if you are after accuracy and want to improve your shooting, be particular about the choice of diabolo pellets. Among the best and most precise in the world are JSB (Josef Schulz Bohumín) or HN (Haendler Natermann) diabolo pellets. If you have a dilemma which to choose specifically, try test sets that these brands offer. Sports diabolo pellets most often have a flat or rounded pellet shape. If your air gun is mainly used to shoot unpleasant rats, then you need to choose proper hunting diabolo pellets which are specific in their shape. They have a pointed shape or cavity, a combination of a cavity and a lead, plastic or metal tip.
Sometimes the length of diabolo pellets is also decisive. Especially in the case of air guns, which have e.g. a cylinder magazine, since a pellet must not protrude from it. If you do not know how to choose the right diabolo pellets, do not hesitate to contact us, and we will be happy to help you.
